West Jeff building collapse

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police say part of a two-story building collapsed in West Jefferson Sunday morning, sending at least one person to the hospital with minor injuries.

A dispatcher with the West Jefferson police says three people were reportedly in the building on W. Main Street when part of it collapsed around 6:30 a.m. Sunday. The dispatcher says at least one was taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries and later released. At least two people were taken to the hospital, according to a report on WBNS 10-TV.

The building has businesses on the ground level and apartments on the second floor.

Police say building inspectors are trying to determine what caused the collapse. The dispatcher said there were no reports of damage to any other buildings in the area.

People who were living in the building told the television station they had concerns the building wasn’t structurally sound.
