Westerville man leads guilty to threatening Stivers

COLUMBUS – A Westerville man faces up to 10 years in prison after pleading guilty to threatening a Congressman.

E. Stanley Hoff, 68, pleaded guilty in U.S. District Court in Columbus Tuesday to one count of threatening to assault and murder a United States official, according to a release from the office of Benjamin Glassman, U. S. Attorney for the Southern District of Ohio.

Hoff was indicted by a federal grand jury in July for threatening to assault and murder U.S Rep. Steve Stivers and a member of Stivers’ family.

Hoff left a menacing voice mail on Stivers’ Hilliard office phone, Glassman’s office said.

Hoff was arrested on June 21 and is being held without bond.
