COLUMBUS, Ohio β A bomb threat scrawled on a bathroom wall prompted a lockdown and evacuation at Westerville South High School yesterday.
In an email sent to parents, principal Steve Andersson said a student reported finding the graffiti in the restroom and did not recall seeing it when he was in the restroom earlier in the day.
Considering the nature of the threat and what they knew about when it may have been written, Andersson says district officials took the advice of police and went into an instructional lockdown, which allows students to remain in class while the threat was investigated.
The building was evacuated while the sweep was carried out and nothing unusual was found, so the school was reopened, Andersson said.
βIn such situations we will always err of the side of caution and take active steps to maintain student and staff safety. I assure you that we will continue to investigate this matter to identify all persons that may have been involved. Such offenses also entail legal consequences, including possible arrest and prosecution,β Andersson said in his email.
