COLUMBUS – Central Ohioans woke up to a covering of about 2 inches of snow as the first of two winter storms tracked through the area overnight.

Widespread wintry weather was expected from the central Plains to the Northeast through Tuesday as a storm system that brought widespread heavy snow Sunday to parts of Kansas and Missouri shifted northeast, bringing snow into Indiana and Ohio before heading toward Pennsylvania, New York state and New England, National Weather Service meteorologist Brian Hurley said.
More than 200 Ohio Department of Transportation crews were on roadways all night Sunday and into Monday morning, salting and plowing, but Level 1 snow emergencies were declared in Fairfield and Pickaway counties.
A Winter Weather Advisory takes effect at 4:00 Monday afternoon in Franklin, Delaware, Licking, Madison and Union counties and at 11:00 p.m. in Fairfield and Pickaway counties and remains in effect until 10:00 a.m. Tuesday
A mix of accumulating snow and freezing rain is expected overnight Monday.
Total snow accumulations of 1 to 3 inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of an inch are possible.
