Woman dies after weekend accident

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A woman who was struck by a car while she stood in the freeway, inspecting damage caused by an earlier accident, has died of her injuries, Columbus police said.

Accident investigators say that, at about 2:20 a.m. Saturday, Judith Collins, 57, was driving westbound on I-70 in a Cadillac SUV when she changed lanes at Fairwood Avenue, colliding a Toyota Highlander driven by Kenneth Sinclair.

Collins and Sinclair, 50, got out of their vehicles, which were in the left and center lane, to inspect the damage when a a Ford Crown Victoria driven by Laron Ogden struck Collins, and Sinclair’s Highlander, causing the SUV to spin and hit Sinclair, police said.

Sinclair’s wife, Barbara, 51, was seated in the Highlander during both crashes.

Collins and Ogden, 25, were listed in critical condition while the Sinclairs were in stable condition.

Collins died of her injuries at 1:16 a.m. Monday, police said.

The accident is still under investigation.
