COLUMBUS – A woman and her dog’s narrow escape from the Little Darby Creek Sunday serves as a reminder of how dangerous Ohio waterways are after weeks of rain.
According to a report on WBNS 10-TV, Pleasant Township crews rescued the woman and her dog after they became stranded while kayaking.
The woman, whose name was not included in the report, is described as an experienced kayaker. She lost control of her craft after the creek’s waters became too rough and she grabbed onto some branches to keep herself and the dog from going underwater or being swept farther downstream.
The dog is reported to be all right, while the woman was treated for hypothermia.
The television station reported that this was the seventh water rescue by Pleasant Township authorities in in the last month and a half.
