Woman killed by hit-skip driver

COLUMBUS – Police have very little to go on in their attempt to find the driver who struck and killed a woman on the East Side overnight and drove away from the scene.

The police radio room began receiving calls at 2:43 a.m. Tuesday about a pedestrian struck on E. Livingston Avenue near the exit ramp from I-70 westbound, according to accident investigators.

Police say callers reported coming upon the body of the 46-year-old woman, whose name was not released early Tuesday morning, in the street but had not witnessed the initial crash.

None of the witnesses could provide any information on the vehicle or the driver that struck the woman, who was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Anyone with any information regarding the incident is asked to contact the Columbus Police Accident Investigation Unit at 614-645-4767.
