COLUMBUS – Columbus has recorded 11 homicides in the first 11 days of the year, the latest a 29-year-old woman who police say was shot as she walked up to an address in the Milo-Grogan neighborhood Monday afternoon.
A friend dropped Shaniqua Turner off at 842 Leona Avenue at 5:06 p.m. and someone shot Turner multiple times as she was walking to the front door, according to Sgt. James Marable of the Homicide Unit.
The suspect ran away and Turner was taken to Grant Medical Center where she was pronounced dead at 5:27 p.m.

An 18-year-old man is recovering from a gunshot wound in the neck and police are looking for a 17-year-old suspect, detectives said.
The shooting happened inside a home the 1800 block of Vaughn Street at 1:35 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
Carlos Romero was shot inside his room at the house and a witness says the 17-year-old boy admitted to the shooting and left the scene before officers arrived, detectives said.
