Women’s Final Four may return to Columbus

COLUMBUS – Columbus is one of seven cities named as finalists to host the NCAA Division I basketball Women’s Final Four from 2027 through 2031.

Games would be played at Nationwide Arena.

The city last hosted the Final Four in 2018, an event that attracted 39,000 fans and pumped $21.7 million into the local economy, according to the Greater Columbus Sports Commission.

Also in the running are Dallas, Indianapolis, Portland, Ore.; Sacramento, San Antonio and Tampa.

Cities must submit their final bids by July 1.

Division I Women’s Basketball Committee staff and committee members will conduct site visits through August and September and the finalist cities will be asked to deliver presentations to the committee in mid-November with a final decision to follow.

Cleveland will host the event in 2024.
