COLUMBUS – Grove City police and the federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration are investigating after a worker was killed in an elevator shaft at the construction site for the new Mount Carmel Grove City hospital.

According to a 911 caller, the person fell down an elevator shaft, WBNS 10-TV reported.
A spokesperson with Mount Carmel said the person worked for thyssenkrupp Elevator company.
According to a report in The Columbus Dispatch, Jackson Township paramedics were called at 12:53 p.m. Wednesday to the fatal incident at the hospital, 5300 N. Meadows Drive.
A male worker was pronounced dead shortly afterwards by responding paramedics. The victim’s name had not been released early Thursday.
