Worst drivers in US aren’t here

COLUMBUS, Ohio – If you thought Columbus drivers were the worst in the country, you were mistaken. They’re not even the worst in Ohio.

EXTRA: Where do the best and worst drivers live?

Allstate just released its 10th annual ranking of the 200 biggest cities by driving ability and Columbus was listed 135th – that’s 65th worst – and safer than Cincinnati (170), but not as safe as Dayton (49), Toledo (66) or Cleveland (98). Columbus moved up in the rankings, from No. 139 last year.

According to the America’s Best Driver’s Report, an average Columbus motorist will experience an accident every 8.4 years.

Compare that to Worcester and Boston, Mass., where a driver goes less than four and a half years between wrecks.

In fact, driving in the Bay State is not for the faint of heart. Three of the four worst cities are in Massachusetts.

At the other end, Fort Collins, Colo., has the best drivers in the country, averaging an accident every 14.2 years.
