COLUMBUS – For all of the depth of talent the Buckeyes have returning to defend their national college football championship, one area where there was a lot of doubt was the position of wide receiver and the loss of promising sophomore Noah Brown won’t help.
The university announced Wednesday that Brown injured his left leg during practice Wednesday and will miss the season.
“Sophomore receiver Noah Brown suffered a left leg injury during practice…at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. Brown, from Flanders, N.J., will have surgery [Thursday] at the Ohio State University Medical Center. He will miss the 2015 season but is expected to make a complete recovery,” associate director of athletics communications Jerry Emig said in the statement.
The 6’2”, 222-pound Brown saw limited playing time in 13 games as a freshman last season and had one catch for 9 yards. But he was vying for a starting spot and having a strong preseason. Coach Urban Meyer said last week Brown was one of the most improved players in training camp.
The Buckeyes were already planning to be short-handed at receiver against the Hokies because of suspensions to wideout Corey Smith and H-backs Jalin Marshall and Dontre Wilson.
