Wreck snarls Outerbelt

COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Gahanna woman is recovering from injuries suffered in a one-vehicle accident that shut down part of the Outerbelt on the East Side for much of the Thursday afternoon rush.

Columbus police say they have not been able to determine why Nancy Wright lost control of her Chevrolet Impala while driving southbound on I-270 near the McCutcheon Road overpass around 3:54 p.m.

The car ran off the roadway to the left, hit the guard rail in the median and rolled over into the northbound lanes of traffic, accident investigators said.

Wright, 58, was taken to Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center by MedFlight, police said.

The freeway was closed at Morse Road for over an hour during the cleanup and investigation, which is still going on.
