COLUMBUS, Ohio – A Seattle-based online retailer is opening a call center in central Ohio and bringing about 900 new jobs.
Zulily — offering daily deals for women, children and infants — will have a temporary office in Gahanna while it looks for a permanent facility. The hiring will be done over the next three years.
The Columbus Dispatch reports that details about the call center were disclosed Monday when the Ohio Tax Credit Authority approved a 75 percent, 12-year income-tax credit for the company.
The tax credit will save the company about $6.2 million and is contingent on Zulily meeting annual targets for hiring in the first three years toward a total of 900 full-time jobs, and then maintaining a presence in the region for at least 15 years.
The jobs would generate $28 million in additional annual payroll and retaining $4.8 million in existing payroll.
