$5,000 reward in 2010 Hocking County murder

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities are offering a $5,000 reward for information about the 2010 murder of a Chillicothe greenhouse owner at his home in Hocking County,

The death of Robert “Mike” Yoder (above) is one of 1,305 unsolved homicide cases submitted by local authorities to a statewide database created as part of Attorney General Mike DeWine’s Ohio Unsolved Homicides Initiative, DeWine’s office said.

Yoder, 56, was found dead from massive blunt force trauma to the head outside of his home on Wolfe Road on the morning of April 11, 2010, Hocking County Sheriff’s Office detectives said.

Yoder owned The Potting Shed greenhouse on Pleasant Valley Road in Chillicothe, as well as rental units in Ross County.

Investigators believe burglary or theft was the motive.

DeWine’s Unsolved Homicides Initiative was developed last in an effort to create a statewide database of the approximately 5,000 unsolved killings in the state, DeWine’s office said.
