COLUMBUS, Ohio – Neither the Browns nor the Bengals can boast much of a national fan base.
Ohio’s NFL franchises ranked near the bottom in a survey of fans’ favorite teams.
The Dallas Cowboys are still “America’s team.” The franchise has held the number one spot in the Harris Interactive survey since 2007, and has ranked first or second since 2003.
The Bengals were ranked 24th out of 34 teams and the Browns were 25th.
The Steelers cracked the top 10 at No. 7.
A longtime favorite, the Green Bay Packers, has the No. 2 spot this year, which is up from No. 3 in 2011 — the last time the poll was taken. Since 1998 the Packers have only been out of the top five once, in 2009, when they ranked sixth.
The Denver Broncos are seeing a surge in popularity this year to take the No. 3 spot after being ranked 17th in 2011. The New York Giants return to the top five for the first time since 2004, landing at No. 4, and the New England Patriots round out the top five.
For the fourth consecutive time the Jacksonville Jaguars rank last on the list of 32 teams.
Other teams seeing significant shifts in popularity include the Seattle Seahawks, who have climbed 15 spaces from No. 27 to No. 12; the Colts, who have taken a dive from No. 6 to No. 19, and the Tennessee Titans, who dropped ten spots, from No. 21 to No. 31.
