COLUMBUS, Ohio β Hundreds of nonprofit organizations in central Ohio will split up $10.4 million, the total pledged during the Big Give.
Columbus Foundation officials say the 24-hour online fundraising blitz wrapped up yesterday after bringing in more than $10.46 million, an increase of $2 million over the first online donation drive in 2011.
βThe overwhelming support and commitment people have to our community and nonprofit is truly extraordinary. This historic giving rally is compelling evidence of what a great and generous community we live in,β said Doug Kridler, foundation president and CEO.
Gifts were received from 49 states, the District of Columbia and eight foreign countries, communications and market vice president Carol Harmon said.
Pledges totaled $9.3 million, which was combined with a $1.1 million bonus pool, Harmon said.
The largest single grant was $750,000 to The Ohio State University Foundation, she said.
The Columbus Foundation is the seventh largest community foundation in the world.
