COLUMBUS, Ohio – Tens of thousands of people are expected to converge on downtown Columbus tonight for “Red, White and Boom.”
Streets began closing earlier in the week to make way for the annual fireworks display along the Scioto River, billed as the largest in the Midwest.
To ease traffic and parking headaches, people are encouraged to take COTA downtown and stake out their viewing spot early.
Express routes board from 5:30 to 8:30 and until midnight for the return trip after the fireworks. Other routes run until 9:30.
Huntington Park will be open to view the fireworks with family-friendly activities available for $5 per person.
For the second year in a row, approximately 600 police officers working today and tonight have been offered some help from fast-food chain Raising Cane’s, which has offered to donate over $2,000 in chicken fingers, Texas Toast, and Cane’s Sauce to the Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association.
