COLUMBUS, Ohio – Boutique bowling comes to central Ohio Saturday with the grand opening of Star Lanes Polaris.
The 35,000 square-foot bowling alley is an attempt to provide Columbus with an upscale approach to bowling, arcade games and billiards.
Star Lanes employs 100 people and features 14 main bowling lanes and six private lanes with high-tech software on touch screen tablets which display scores on HD monitors.
The bowling center, located on the eastern edge of the Polaris Fashion Place Mall, 8655 Lyra Drive, also includes a corporate event space, birthday party rooms, VIP areas and a new full-service restaurant, The Point at Star Lanes.
Star Lanes Polaris is owned and operated by brothers Doug and Jeff Mechling, who began the project with their father Mike approximately five years ago, inspired by Lucky Strike, a Hollywood bowling alley that rolled out the boutique trend in 2003.
