Buckeyes idle after tight win

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes have a week off after a hard-fought victory at Northwestern Saturday night extended the nation’s longest winning streak to 18 games.

Ohio State (6-0, 2-0) plays host to Iowa on Oct. 19 (3:30p.m./ABC6).

Carlos Hyde ran for a career-high 168 yards and three touchdowns, and OSU Ohio State rallied to beat the Wildcats 40-30.

The win did not lead to any change in the Buckeyes’ standings in the major college football polls. The top five teams stayed the same in the new AP Top 25 poll. Alabama remains first, followed by Oregon received, Clemson, Ohio State and Stanford.

OSU remained No. 3 in the “USA Today” coaches’ poll, behind the Crimson Tide and Oregon. Clemson and Stanford rounded out the top five.
