Casino, racino revenues down

COLUMBUS, Ohio – State regulators say monthly revenue fell at both of the Columbus area’s gambling palaces.

Three of Ohio’s four, voter-approved casinos reported decreases in revenue in August compared with July but the take was up slightly at the fourth facility in northwest Ohio.

The Ohio Casino Control Commission’s Monday report showed the Hollywood Casino Columbus on the West Side reported revenue of about $16.9 million, down 3.4 percent from the previous month. Slot machine play at Scioto Downs dropped five-percent last month to $11 million.

Revenue at the casino in Toledo increased 2.9 percent from July figures to about $15.9 million for August, the commissioner reported.

August revenue for the Cleveland casino last month was about $18.9 million, down 4.8 percent from July.

The casino in Cincinnati showed a 0.3 percent decline from July to around $19.2 million for August.

Statewide, casino revenues totaled about $70.9 million in August, down 1.6 percent from July’s $72 million.
