Columbus casino loses again in September

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The casino on the West Side of Columbus celebrates its first anniversary today on a bit of a losing streak.

Figures released by the Ohio Casino Control Commission Monday showed that Hollywood Casino Columbus suffered a second straight drop in monthly revenue. The report says revenue for Hollywood Columbus fell to $15.7 million in September, the second month revenue has dropped.

The casino had $159 million in revenue year-to-date, according to the report. The casino’s owners say it has paid more than $60 million in tax payments to the state and made more than $1 million in charitable donations since opening its doors..

The casinos began operating after casino gambling was approved by voters.

The state reports that revenue at Horseshoe Cincinnati rose to $19.8 million in September, with year-to-date revenue at $135 million. The state says revenue at Horseshoe Cleveland rose to $19.3 million and stands at $185 million year-to-date. The commission says revenue at Hollywood Toledo fell by nearly $2 million to $14 million in September, with year-to-date revenue of $140 million.
