COLUMBUS, Ohio – Columbus is ranking high on a list that’ll make residents and business owners cringe.
Marketwatch.com ranks the city third on its list of the 10 “most taxed” cities in the nation.
The business news website cites above-average income and property tax burdens on families across all income levels.
Bridgeport, Conn., ranked first in the report.
The website says Columbus residents are hit by a “one-two punch” of sales and property taxes that are higher than most.
A family of earning $50,000 in 2011 paid over $2,000 in income taxes and had to pay an additional $4,025 in property taxes, according to the website.
