Drug deal, robbery turns into abduction in Muskingum Co.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities from Muskingum County are looking for four men who kidnapped a woman when a drug deal went bad overnight.

Four men, possibly from Franklin and Licking County, went to Muskingum County around to buy drugs from some Muskingum County residents who robbed them, Sheriff Matt Lutz said.

The four men found the woman and abducted her and held her hostage while they searched for her accomplice. When they found him, Lutz says they retrieved their money and released the woman unharmed on I-70 near Buckeye Lake where she was picked up by an Ohio State Highway Patrol trooper, Lutz said.

Reportedly, the abduction occurred around 2:15 a.m. and the woman was dropped off approximately two hours later.

Authorities are still looking for four men in a silver Acura.

“We think we know who they are,” Lutz said.

Investigators think the abduction was a false report but have not released information on who turned it in, Lutz said.

Lutz says a firearm was present during the incident and accidentally discharged, but no one was reported hurt.

None of the names of the six people involved were released Friday morning.
