Escapee a “person of interest” in homicide

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Police are looking for an East Side man as a person of interest in the stabbing death of his neighbor, whose body was found in the stairwell of an apartment building early Wednesday morning.

Barry Brooks, 57, is also wanted for a parole violation and on arrest warrants from Cleveland for escape and in Columbus for forgery.

Brooks lives in an apartment in a building where Charles Drisdom, Jr., was found suffering from fatal stab wounds, investigators said.

Officers sent to 63 N. Hampton Drive at 8:04 a.m. Wednesday to check out a report of an unresponsive man found Drisdom, 58, in the stairwell suffering from stab wounds, homicide detectives said.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, becoming the city’s 70th homicide victim of 2013.

Drisdom lives at a nearby address.

Brooks is described as black, 6’02” tall and weighing 325 pounds.
