WEST JEFFERSON, Ohio – A wanted fugitive’s nearly 30-year run from justice is over.
West Jefferson police have arrested Gary Smith, 66, on rape charges out of New York state.
Smith was tracked down at the Arbors West nursing home when he checked in to live out his final days with terminal cancer.
He had been running since 1985, when he skipped out on his trial in Livingston County, New York.
