CLEVELAND, Ohio – Prosecutors on Friday added hundreds of counts to the indictment of Ariel Castro, the Cleveland man accused of kidnapping and holding three women in his home for nearly a decade.
He’s now facing nearly 1,000 charges of kidnapping, rape, assault and aggravated murder.
The 977-count indictment filed Friday against Castro includes rape, kidnapping and aggravated murder charges, including accusations Castro starved and punched one of the women while she was pregnant until she miscarried.
The aggravated murder charge is for Castro’s alleged termination of one of his captives’ pregnancies.
Prosecutors haven’t announced whether they plan to seek the death penalty.
