Lake Erie’s beaches ranked nation’s worst

CLEVELAND, Ohio – There’s a warning out for people who may be traveling to Ohio’s North Coast.

The Natural Resources Defense Council’s annual water-quality report ranks the public beaches along our Great Lake as the worst in the nation.

The environmental watchdog group says 21 percent of water tests last year turned up unhealthy levels of E-coli bacteria.

The bacteria is caused when rain washes sewage into rivers and streams.
