COLUMBUS, Ohio – A leading Columbus defense attorney is in need of counsel, after being accused of sexual assault.
Javier Armengau, 50, was arrested yesterday on gross sexual imposition and public indecency charges after allegedly groping a woman and exposing himself during a meeting this month at his office, police said.
Investigators with the Columbus Police Sexual Assault Unit say an unidentified 42-year-old woman told them Armengau “forcibly fondled her” and exposed himself during a meeting on the afternoon of April 4 at Armengau’s office at 857 S. High Street.
Sexual Assault Unit detectives, along with investigators from the Columbus Police Vice Unit and the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit followed up on the accusation and, as a result, Armengau has been charged with gross sexual imposition and public indecency.
He was taken to the Franklin County Jail, police said.
Armengau’s practice specializes in criminal defense, personal injury and family law in state and federal Court, according to the firm’s website.
