Man, 93, dies in Newark accident

NEWARK, Ohio – A 93-year-old Granville man is dead after a crash involving an ambulance.

Newark police say Richard Little was killed yesterday morning when he drove out of convenience store parking lot on Mt. Vernon Road and into the path of an ambulance on a nonemergency run, Newark police said.

Four people inside the ambulance were treated at local hospitals.

A health-care worker in the ambulance, Bobbie Hendricks, 42, was flown by medical helicopter to OSU Medical Center.

The ambulance was owned by We Care Ambulance Service of Mansfield, according to the accident report.

According to the report, at 10:L23 a.m., Little’s Mercury Grand Marquis pulled out of the parking lot of the Duke and Duchess Shoppe, 1919 Mt. Vernon Road, and into the path of the southbound ambulance, driven by Steven Burgett, which struck Little’s car on the driver’s side.
