Meyer, Goodell host safety clinic

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer will headline an safety clinic for the moms of young football players.

Meyer and NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell are hosting the event today at the Woody Hayes Athletic Center.

Moms will learn about youth football safety from health experts and Ohio State coaches as part of USA Football’s Heads Up Football program and a commitment by the NFL to make the sport safer at all levels.

The three-hour clinic will include a town hall where Meyer and Goodell will answer questions.

Instructional sessions include:

-Concussion Awareness with Dr. Russell Lonser, Chair of Neurological surgery at OSU and member of the NFL’s Head, Neck & Spine committee
-Engaging with your kid’s coaches with Heads Up Football advisory committee member and football mom Christine Golic and Steve Specht, coach at Cincinnati St. Xavier High School and USA Football master trainer
-Heat, Hydration & Nutrition with Rebecca Stearns of the Korey Stringer Institute and OSU training staff
-Heads Up Tackling and Proper Equipment Fitting with USA Football and OSU coaches
