Miller, Johnston Big 10 players of the week

COLUMBUS, Ohio – For the third week in a row, the Ohio State quarterback is the Big Ten’s Offensive Player of the week, but this is the first time this season the award has gone to Braxton Miller.

Player of the Week honors have also been claimed by the Buckeyes’ punter from Down Under.

The junior returned from an injury that had sidelined him for nearly three full games to Braxton Miller to lead the Buckeyes to victory over Wisconsin in their conference opener.

Backup Kenny Guiton, stepping in for Miller, had won the honor with outstanding perforances in the previous two games.

Miller completed 17 of 25 passes for 198 yards and four touchdowns and added 83 rushing yards for a total of 281 yards of total offense. Miller threw two first-quarter touchdowns, another with one second remaining in the first half and another late in the third quarter.

Ohio State punter Cameron Johnston, a freshman from Geelong, Australia was named Special Teams Player of the Week after he repeatedly stranded the Badgers’ offense deep in their own territory.

Johnston pinned Wisconsin inside its own 20-yard line on each of his six punts, including five inside the 10-yard line, helping Ohio State win the battle of field position.

Johnston averaged 39.8 yards per punt and finished with a long of 55 yards on his final attempt, pinning the Badgers back at their own 10-yard line with 1:29 to play and a chance to tie the game and send it to overtime.
