BROOKLYN, N.Y. – Buckeye Deshaun Thomas sweated out his night during last night’s NBA Draft.
The 6’7” forward from Fort Wayne, Ind., ended up being picked by the San Antonio Spurs with the 58th overall pick, the third to last selection.
Michigan guard and Northland High School alum Trey Burke was the ninth pick by Minnesota, who promptly traded him Utah.
In a surprise move, the Cavaliers picked Anthony Bennett out of UNLV with the first overall pick.
Bennett is an undersized power forward, who played only one season with the Running Rebels.
He averaged 16 points and eight rebounds in his freshman season.
The Cavs remained active through the rest of the night, selecting forward Sergey Karasev with the 19th overall pick in the first round.
They drafted Allen Crabbe with the first selection of the second round and then dealt him to the Trail Blazers for two future second rounders.
Cleveland finished the night using the 33rd pick on Arizona State product Carrick Felix.
