New downtown traffic patterns

COLUMBUS, Ohio – New traffic patterns are taking effect this week downtown and in Franklinton as part of a plan to spur business at area merchants.

W. Town Street will be converted to two-way traffic between S. Grubb and Belle streets, in Franklinton, today and, at the request of local businesses and neighborhood leaders, traffic patterns will change on Vine Street, Spruce Street and Wall Street downtown, according to Paving The Way.

Beginning today:
Vine Street will be converted to one-way eastbound traffic between Front Street and North High Street
Spruce Street will be converted to one-way westbound traffic between North High Street and Park Street
Wall Street will be converted to one-way northbound traffic between Vine Street and Spruce Street

The conversion of W. Town Street to two-way traffic is part of the East Franklinton Plan. W. Rich Street was converted to two-way traffic in the area last month, city officials say.

Officials say motorists should expect some closures and various restrictions and should watch for crews at work on Tuesday and Wednesday. Motorists, cyclists and pedestrians should be alert for new signs and pavement markings as they become familiar with the new configuration.
