COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Franklin County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a crash on the Southeast Side late Thursday night that left a Lancaster man dead.
George Love was killed when his vehicle crashed into a tractor-trailer that was trying to make a U-turn at the intersection of U.S. 33 and Bixby Road, Sheriff Zach Scott said.
The semi, driven by Jack Garner, 66, of Ozark, Ala., was traveling westbound on U.S. 33 just before 11:00 p.m. and tried to make a U-turn at the Bixby Road intersection when the truck was hit by Love’s eastbound vehicle.
Love, 65, who was alone in the vehicle died after the vehicle got stuck under the trailer, Scott said.
Scott says neither drugs nor alcohol appear to be a factor.
