COLUMBUS – Police took one person into custody but no charges had been filed early Monday in a shooting near a Northland area Dairy Queen that left a man dead.
Detectives were turning information about the incident in the 1900 block of Tamarack Circle Sunday afternoon over to the Franklin County Prosecutor’s office, Sgt. David Shimberg of the Homicide Unit said.
Officers found Adrian Carr lying in a parking lot suffering from a gunshot wound and took a person of interest into custody while administering first aid to the 33-year-old victim, who died at the scene at approximately 4:00 p.m., Shimberg said.
The incident is still under investigation.

This was the 91st homicide of the year in Columbus.
Suspect in homicide surrenders
A suspect in a double shooting that killed one man and injured another turned himself in to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Friday, Sgt. Edward Powell III of the Columbus police Homicide Unit said.
Torodd Carter, 27, was taken to the Franklin County Jail where he was held on charges of murder and felonious assault in connection with a shooting in the 6000 block of N. Hamilton Road late Thursday that left 21-year-old Dermahni Hoston dead and a 25-year-old man in stable condition at Mount Carmel East Hospital, Powell said.
This was the 90th homicide if the year in Columbus.
