OSU hires new concessions vendor

COLUMBUS, Ohio – OSU has reached an agreement with Levy Restaurants to be the exclusive food and beverage supplier for Ohio Stadium, the Jerome Schottenstein Center and the rest of the university’s athletics venues.

The seven-year agreement takes effect when the current contract with Sodexo expires on June 30.

The deal includes a $2 million allocation to Schottenstein Center infrastructure improvements and $6 million for food service infrastructure enhancements for all facilities that will include rebranding, signage, technology and equipment upgrades, Xen Riggs, Ohio State’s associate vice president for business advancement, said.

The university will see approximately $1 million in additional revenue through a revised commission structure that returns an average of 9 percent more to the university than the contract with Sodexo, Riggs said.

Ohio State received $3.5 million in commission on $11.4 million in gross sales for the 2012 fiscal year, Riggs said.

Chicago-based Levy operates James Beard Award-winning Spiaggia in Chicago, Fulton’s Crab House, Portobello and Wolfgang Puck Grand Café at Walt Disney World Resort and proved food and beverage service to Churchill Downs in Louisville, STAPLES Center in Los Angele and a number of other sports venues and events.
