Parents indicted in toddler death

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) – A central Ohio grand jury has indicted the parents of a 16-month-old girl who authorities say died after being left in a room with a space heater on last month.

Michael Wilder, 29, has been indicted on one count of involuntary manslaughter, while 23-year-old Greta Sahatciu, 23, is facing a one-count charge of tampering with evidence, the Franklin County prosecutor’s office announced Monday. The grand jury also indicted the couple on charges of endangering children.

Prosecutors also allege Wilder and Sahatciu neglected their surviving children, who have now been removed from their home.

Detectives have determined the girl was left unattended for about 10 hours in a bedroom with a space heater on in the midst of hot summer weather. She was unresponsive when her father rushed her to a hospital where she died two days later.
