Police: Son strangled mom during fight

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Hilliard man accused of killing his mother will remain in jail while the case is turned over to a grand jury.

A judge set bond yesterday for Tyler Dunkle at $1 million.

Dunkle is charged with murder for allegedly strangling Terri Menendez, 44, this past weekend during an argument at their Westham Way home.

Hilliard police will forward the case to the Franklin County Prosecutors office to be presented to the Grand Jury for indictment, Officer Hyda Slone said.

Dunkle admitted to strangling his mother during an “altercation” that turned violent inside the townhome they shared at 2596 Westham Way, Slone said.

Reportedly, Dunkle took an overdose of drugs in a suicide attempt three days after the crime.

Menendez was found Monday afternoon after concerned family and co-workers alerted police.
