COLUMBUS, Ohio – Damien Brunner scored the lone goal of the shootout to lift the Red Wings over the Blue Jackets, 4-3, last night at Nationwide Arena.
It was the first home game for Columbus after the start of the lockout-shortened NHL season.
Cam Atikson, James Wisniewski and Vinny Prospal all lit the lamp for Columbus (1-0-1).
Sergei Bobrovsky halted 39 shots in the loss.
Pavel Datsyuk had a goal and assist in regulation for Detroit (1-1).
Brian Lashoff and Ian White also scored for the Wings while Jimmy Howard made 30 saves to pick up the win.
