COLUMBUS, Ohio – Big changes are being planned for the Scioto Peninsula.
Columbus and Franklin County officials unveiled an overhaul yesterday that includes tearing down Veterans Memorial and replacing it with a veterans’ museum and amphitheater.
A Columbus Zoo and Aquarium attraction is also part of the plan, along with hundreds of apartments, shops and restaurants.
There’s no word yet on the cost, other than the $2.5 million dollar Vets Memorial makeover.
The Downtown Columbus Development Corporation developed the plan using a 2010 strategic blueprint, which was intended to revitalize East Franklinton to coincide with the planned removal of the Main Street Dam.
