Vaccine eligibility may expand to young teenagers

Young teens in Ohio could be eligible to get the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine as early as Wednesday if a federal government health panel and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sign off on expanding use of the shots to children as young as 12.

State vaccination rate slumping, cases declining

State health department records show the number of people starting the COVID-19 vaccine has decreased steadily in recent weeks and the DeWine administration is continuing to promote the safety of the vaccines and adopt policies that encourage Ohioans to start getting immunized.

Franklin Co. no longer “purple” on COVID map

Franklin County was downgraded from Level 4 — designated as purple — to “red” Level 3 on the state’s Public Health Advisory System as the rate of new COVID-19 cases, hospital visits and admissions declined.

J&J shots resume

The state has given COVID-19 vaccine providers in Ohio the go-ahead to resume administering the Johnson & Johnson shot after U.S. health officials lifted a pause on the use of the drug.
