Columbus schools plan blended model for reopening

Ohio’s largest school district has unveiled its plan for reopening amid the continuing COVID-19 pandemic and the Columbus City Schools plan may be a clue to what other districts in Ohio may attempt.

The state reported 854 new confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19, continuing a surge in new daily cases that began last week and pushing the total number of cases to over 50,000 with 2,807 deaths.

Ohioans were cautioned Thursday to return to being vigilant about social distancing, mask-wearing and hand-washing, after cases of COVID-19 hit their highest mark since mid-April.

For the eighth week in a row, the number of Ohioans continuing to claim unemployment benefits has declined as the state’s economy slowly emerges from its pandemic-related shutdown.
