Surging Browns host Lions

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Two teams in the unfamiliar position of being division leaders meet Sunday when the surprising Browns host the Lions.

Cleveland (3-2) has won three straight since trading running back Trent Richardson and is tied with the Ravens and Bengals for first place in the AFC North.

The Lions (3-2) are tied with Chicago atop the NFC North.

Also coinciding with their winning streak, wide receiver Josh Gordon has returned from his two-game suspension. Gordon has 18 catches for 303 yards and two touchdowns.

The Browns have to go back to Brandon Weeden at quarterback after losing Brian Hoyer for the season early in their win over the Bills last week.

Their defense may have to deal with the NFL’s most dangerous receiver.

Calvin Johnson was back on the practice field for the Lions on Thursday, although it’s still not clear how likely he is to play this weekend at Cleveland.

Johnson was inactive in a loss at Green Bay last weekend because of an injured right knee. He didn’t practice Wednesday, but he was on the field Thursday during the portion of practice open to reporters.

Johnson didn’t participate in every drill, but he did do some footwork and pass-catching exercises with other receivers.

Detroit lost 22-9 to the Packers without Johnson. The star receiver has 21 catches for 312 yards and four touchdowns on the season.
