Teen accused of jogger’s stabbing death

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities have charged a 16-year boy who lived in a group home with the fatal stabbing of a jogger in a Northeast Side park.

Police in Blendon Township say Jane Juergens, 55, was killed Sunday night on a trail at Ridgewood Park. She had been stabbed multiple times.

On Monday police charged a 16-year-old boy with a delinquency count of murder. They say he lived in a nearby group home with three other boys.

According to the search warrant affidavit, a staff member of the group home called police Sunday night after the teen began acting suspiciously after a visit to the park Sunday afternoon.

Township Police Chief John Belford said Juergens and the boy did not know each other.

Franklin County officials say the teen was placed in the group home after repeated run-ins with police.
