COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas is hoping to hear his name called during tonight’s NBA Draft at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Draftexpress.com has him getting picked in the second round.
Thomas played three years with the Buckeyes and averaged just under 20 points and six rebounds last season as a junior.
The Cavaliers hope to take a step back towards respectability with the No. 1 overall pick and some last minute wheeling and dealing.
Names like Nerlens Noel, Alex Len, Anthony Bennett and Ben McLemore have all been linked to the Cavs with the top pick, who also select 19th in the first round and have the first and third pick of the second round.
The team is looking at trade options.
The “Houston Chronicle” reports Cleveland is interested in trading the 19th selection for forward Thomas Robinson.
Robinson was the fifth pick in last year’s draft by the Kings and was traded to the Rockets.
Houston is looking to clear cap space so they can offer free agent Dwight Howard a max contract.
