Throwback uniforms possible, Hall of Famers certain for game

COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Buckeyes may take the field against Wisconsin Saturday night (8:00 p.m./ABC6) in throwback uniforms that seem to have brought them some good luck in years past.

Ohio State may wear the Nike-designed “rivalry” uniforms which debuted during last year’s 26-21 victory over Michigan. Meyer said only that players might wear a 2013 version of those uniforms that hint back to the style worn by the 1968 national championship team.

Meyer liked more than the look last year: “I liked the result of the look,” he said.

“The feedback from the rivalry game last year was incredible, not just from our players and recruits, but from Buckeye greats of old So there’s a good chance we’ll be wearing them,” he said.

The uniforms feature scarlet jerseys with large gray numbers on the front, back and shoulder pads; names in black on the back, gray pants with wider piping down the sides, a black stripe around the jersey sleeves, seven Buckeye leaves along the back collar and a Block “O” on the front collar and a wider scarlet, white and black stripe on a dull chrome helmet.

Ohio State is 4-0 when wearing specially-designed “rivalry” uniforms.

The Ohio State Athletics Hall of Fame will enshrine 14 new members, including former football coach John Cooper and basketball great Scoonie Penn at a dinner Friday at the Ohio Union followed by on-field recognition Saturday at halftime of the game.
