COLUMBUS, Ohio – Authorities in Union County uncovered a marijuana-growing operation that yielded more than a half-million dollars’ worth of pot, according to Sheriff Jamie Patton.
Officers with the Union County Multi Agency Drug Enforcement Task Force seized 564 marijuana plants being cultivated and grown outside a home at 14950 Fladt Road in Darby Township in southern Union County Tuesday evening.
Patton says the estimated street value of the plants seized would be approximately $560,000.
“This was a rather large and sophisticated growing operation. With the size of this operation, it is apparent that the owners have some knowledge of horticulture and hydroponics”, Patton said.
The officers also confiscated guns and marijuana growing equipment, Patton said.
Patton says the case is still under investigation and will be presented to a grand jury.
The task force is made up of members of the Marysville Division of Police, the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, and the Union County Sheriff’s Office.
