COLUMBUS, Ohio – Calling all zombies! Delaware County emergency management officials are asking the walking dead for help again this year in a disaster training exercise.
Approximately 300-500 people dressed as zombies are needed to help train first-responders on what to do in the event a tornado touched down at Zoombezi Bay Water Park, according to Jennifer Wilson, Director of Communications for the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium.
This year’s mass-casualty training exercise by the Delaware County Emergency Management Agency will take place at the park on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
Wilson says the exercise will focus on the “Three T’s”: Triage, Treatment and Transport’. Officials need the “zombies” to play injured storm victims to help make the exercise authentic.
Emergency management officials in Delaware County have enlisted the help of volunteers dressed as zombies in the past to increase participation in an event that work best with a large number of “victims.”
Wilson says participants must be eight years of age and older. There is no cost and registrants will get a t-shirt and two complimentary passes to the zoo while supplies last.
