DUBLIN, Ohio – What began as a prank that riled school officials ended up putting one central Ohio high school in the records book.
Students at Dublin Jerome High School set a Guinness World Record last week by tying together more than 10,000 plastic zip-ties.
The idea came about when senior Hudson Ozello decided to prank his fellow students by zip-tying their backpacks shut during the school year.
The prank spread like wildfire and Ozello was almost suspended, but he put the idea to good use.
After the record was broken, Ozello’s family sold the zip ties and gave the money to a free-and-reduced-price lunch program.
